What do you make of the repetition?

Well it takes 2 3’s to make the number 33 so clearly its connected to number 23 which in turn is connected to the devil since ⅔ is .666666666… which contains 666 repetitively just to make it even more blatantly obvious that its from devil, so its most definitely a message from the devil. And yes, I am being sarcastic.

There will probably be that number of questions on our Chilean “friends” by the time the week is out?

33 is absolutely and positively one of the numbers the miners used when counting to 100. It was uttered between 32 and 34, in Spanish, “trenti-tres.” Other meanings are pretty useless except the emoticon you get when you turn your head sideways. It kind of looks like two pair of breasts.

So, there were 33 of them. Bug whoop and an accident of fate.

It took NASA 33 tries to get the capsule just right? (inspired by WD-40)

I’m just stabbing in the wind here.

@lloydbird That’s right! 33 degrees Celsius is about 91 degrees Fahrenheit. Which is about how hot it got down there.

33 miners
33 days to complete the shaft
33 cm pilot hole (later doubled to 66 cm rescue shaft)
The rescue began on 10/13/10—> 10+13+10= 33
33 characters in the first note sent by the miners to the surface.
And, yes, the temperature in the mine was reported to be “between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius.

And it’s enough of a big whoop that the Chilean president bothered to mention it, and there was an article in the Economist about it, so @Winters, @GeorgeGee & @marinelife, you may want to pull down those smarty pants. They’re riding a little high.

But @kevbo You could just as easily come up with a list of other numbers associated with the rescue.

GeorgeGee's avatar

Now let’s try that with the number 1.
Every single miner believed in 1 god, except the atheists in the crowd who didn’t believe in 1 god!
Every miner has 1 nose!
Every married miner has 1 wife, and 1 miner has 1 wife and 1 mistress!
Of all the miners wearing underwear, they only wore 1 pair on this day!
All of the miners were rescued in 1 capsule lowered through 1 hole!
They were greeted topside by their country’s 1 president!

@GeorgeGee Thank you for illustrating my point brilliantly.

It’s interesting how you first discredit any possibility of an answer and then when you get an answer (one that came from the mouth of a president and was reported worldwide) you discredit that just as readily. It basically says your belief system is going to do the answering for you and babble all that denying crap no matter what response you get.

If it is done “just as easily” as you claim, then try doing it with 5, 14, or 26.

The mine collapsed on August 5th!
Carlos Mamani, 24, the lone Bolivian, started at the mine 5 days before the collapse.
Victor Zamora, 34, was an auto mechanic and laborer who has worked at the mine for 5 years.
Victor Segovia, 48, kept a diary of life below, asking those above to send down more pencils and paper. He has 5 children.
This article amazingly describe 5 touching moments from their rescue!

Unbelievably, this unrelated article describe 5 intriguing facts about the rescue plan!

News that Jose Ojeda, the man known for penning the message to the world: “We are well, the 33 miners,” would be the next to be pulled from the mine was released at 5:55am Chile time.
5 of the miners secretly plotted to try to escape on their own.

And in an unbelievable coincidence, each miner not only had 5 fingers on his left hand, but also 5 fingers on his right hand, and 5 toes on each of his feet!

@GeorgeGee High 5! :¬)

kevbo's avatar

@GeorgeGee, well done. I would hardly equate those facts with the same significance, but you’ve made your point.

Very funny Fluther Gods. ;-)

marinelife's avatar

@kevbo What did they do?

kevbo's avatar

Well, it very well could have been a ghost in the machine, but when I saw this question in the Social list view today it said “5 responses” (instead of 18 or whatever). Even if it was a weird hiccup, it’s still chuckle-able.
