What tabs are open now, simultaneously (or not) and do they say anything about your web-surfing habits?

Asked by seazen (6123points) October 17th, 2010

Besides fluther, I have the email tab and you-tube open – a news-site or two and college stuff.

You?

This question, my student email, and this, this, and this.

It says I’m a Fluther addict who is simultaneously working on homework, learning Dutch for my friend who’s visiting from Holland, and sharing my knowledge of Enfield grenade launching rifles.

Fluther, Genderfork, e-mail, and I Stumbled Upon this.

I think my tabs reveal that I am not working on my homework. Whoops.

Fluther, facebook, and deviant art. Pretty much the usual.

Fluther and my work e-mail because people say they will send you a message on a time-sensitive issue and they FREAKING DON’T. Thanks for sucking up my weekend, o work person!

During the day I would have a lot more open, but I have four core applications I use when here. I read this group in Firefox because I have the log in auto-set in FF. I keep Google Chrome open so if I need to search for something while answering a question here, I don’t risk accidentally shutting the active tab with the question. When opening extra tabs in FF, I have occasionally shut the wrong one and had to kick myself for the hassle of finding my way back..They I keep Eufora (My email client) open so any PMs and email alerts are easy to check, and I keep Textpad running for any heavy wall-of-words writing requirements, where a full blown spell checker instead of the little red squiggly underlines is a welcome asset.

Only Fluther.

Hmm. From left to right: instructions on how to renew my passport, this tab, a story in the local paper, Gmail, my work email, and about two dozen tabs I opened from Fark.com about an hour ago. I like to scroll down the page, open a bunch of links and the associated comments thread in new tabs, and gradually come back to them.

http://www.fiftytwostories.com/ – Publishes short stories weekly, run by Cal Morgan.
http://johntranter.com/reviewer/nicholl.shtml – About Rimbaud. Don’t remember why this is here; it’s been open for about a week and I haven’t read it yet.
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/whitman/gazphoto.html – About Walt Whitman’s notebooks.
http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics/books/2010/10/11/101011crbo_books_surowiecki?currentPage=all – A New Yorker article about procrastination, which I have put off reading.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/17/nyregion/17annie.html?_r=4&pagewanted=1&hp – Odd and interesting NYT piece about a woman and a fishmarket.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih4bm-91Wq4 – Nice little cover of Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here.’
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbhD0GOk4xk – Kendo exchanges between very, very talented high schoolers in Japan.
Email.
Facebook.
http://www.fluther.com – I always open questions in new tabs, but when I am done with a question, I use its tab to return to the Fluther homepage, too, so sometimes I’ll have like five tabs open, all on the homepage.
http://www.fluther.com/100818/flirting-with-starbucks-baristas/ – Which I will answer (maybe) shortly.
http://www.fluther.com/88689/nabokov-fans-care-to-comment-on-the-original-of-laura/ – I searched Nabokov on a whim. Unfortunate there are few responses. (I haven’t read the book yet.)

I think it says I’m often reading about literature more than I’m reading actual literature.
