MadTV is far better than SNL.

SNL was good up until about 1982–84.

Best years:
SNL during the original cast. (Gilda Radner was comedic perfection)
MADtv during the years with Stephnie Weir & Michael McDonald.

Overall – I find MADtv to be funnier

When SNL is good, it’s good. It has been such a habit for me to watch every Saturday night, I just can’t give up on it. I’ve been watching it for over 20 yrs now. Hard habit to break. :/

I’m one of the original snl watchers…
yes, there was a party at our house the first episode. Classics…just about all of them.

Haven’t watched snl in a long time…
mad used to be good, don’t know about now.

They’re both sometimes good, sometimes not so good, sometimes great, and each funny in their own ways… with different casts, different writers, different standards and sensibilities, different topics, and different “personalities.” I think it’s a waste of time to pit one against the other.

@noelleptc Kristin Wiig is hilarious. She is my favorite cast member at the moment.

The SNL shorts are worth watching the entire 1½ hours of show. imo

SCTV man. :-p

BTTT, SNL has had its not so funny skits, but I have a contingent preference for it because I haven’t really watched that much MADTV, but MAD magazine is probably my all-time favorite magazine.

Has there ever been an episode of MADTV featuring Alfred E. Newman or any animated shorts by Don Martin?

I’ve never found MadTV to be funny, but SNL is seriously past it’s prime. Really, I don’t watch either.
