[NSFW] Isn't the guy + big boobs love affair a Madison Avenue scam?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) October 24th, 2010

Isn’t there something kinda fishy going on? Many times I hear the reason for women (at least here in the states) getting a boob job was to feel more womanly, or guys love bigger boobs, that all seem to be big hype especially the notion that guys love big boobs. Most of my life more men than not have really found Asian women sexy and attractive, most of them compared to US women would have ”hubcaps boobs”, as many appear to be a B cup or even smaller, perky but smaller. So if Asian women can get US men going ga ga with smaller breast what does that say to the assertion of many US women? I think maybe they are watching too much cable or buying into the media hype of Madison Avenue.

Well speaking only for myself, my girlfriend, who is Arab, has practically no boobs (or butt) at all. And she is the most beautiful woman on Earth. I bring up her ethnic, racial and cultural origins only because she and her peers do not seem to have the same fascination with their boobs that American girls do. Also speaking only for myself, if it turned out that girls were crazy about men with blond hair, I would not bleach mine. I would hold out until I found one that liked brown hair. But I guess if I set the standard people on Fluther would be always agree with me. They rarely do. So there ya go.

You have boobs on the mind quite a bit lately.

My Asian female friends can’t get dates, so I don’t know on what basis you’re drawing your conclusions from.

On the other hand, I overheard a conversation at lunch a few months ago, where one guy told another, that his in-ground sprinkler system and his wife’s boob job were the two best things he ever spent money on…

American women tend to be insecure about their appearances, period. Our boobs are too small, too big, too droopy, too high set, too wide apart.. you name it, we have issues with it.

Men and women all have different preferences. I don’t see why big breasts wouldn’t be one of them for many. Just as small breasts would be for many.

Whether or not these tastes are infiltrated by the media, I believe that they are to some degree. I believe the other half is biology. We like beautiful things. Beauty, however, is evolutionary. Our opinions of what is beautiful is constantly changing. At the same time, most of us can agree on whether or not a face is pretty. May or may not be our personal taste, but it is hard to overcome so many years of chasing symmetry and health with a few years of media barraging.

I heard it was an astroturfed movement punded by a consortia of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) American Association of Plastic Surgeons (AAPS) and the various breast implant makers.

I’m not exactly sure what the question is here? I have big boobs, hate them, would pay to have them reduced if I could. I don’t care what any man may want in a woman, I will only be who I am.

This has nothing to do with logic or rationality. It’s about perception, not about what’s really happening.

Traditionally big boobs and hips are a win. How is this a surprise to anyone?

I have always loved big boobs. I have never let myself be influenced by Madison Ave. I do not think “big boobs fascination” is Madison Ave. I think the toodamnskinnytobehealthy thing is Madison Ave., but not big boobs. Great, that is all I can think about atm. Now, if you will excuse me, I must go bother my wife so she will let me play with hers.

@BarnacleBill My Asian female friends can’t get dates, so I don’t know on what basis you’re drawing your conclusions from. I did not say every Asian woman was a lock or that all guys would go ga ga over them. I have friends who think marrying Asian is so not for them, but most I have met over my years would chose one over any other women in a nano second, and their breast size was not an issue. With Yankee gals more times than not the size of the rack came up.

@josie I bring up her ethnic, racial and cultural origins only because she and her peers do not seem to have the same fascination with their boobs that American girls do. I think it is more cultural than race. No matter what the race so long as they were born here they are more suseptible to stress on boob size. In most of the chats I have had with women born overseas they didn’t feel they had the bodies of 12yr old boys because they were not rocking Cs to DDs as they seem to here in the US.
