How can I store stuff in my room?

Asked by Moxy (182points) October 27th, 2010

I am doing a room makeover and I when I’m finished I want to store anything I dont want out away. I want a nice tidy room before my mum sees it. I have only a small room which I have only enough room to walk around in. How do I store things away so that they’re nice and tidy?

1. Sort everything you have into two piles: Keep and Throw Away (I recycle paper)
2. Designate a storage area somewhere in your room for stuff. (possibly a closet)
3. Put the stuff you want to keep but would not be needing on a frequent basis away in storage box and put the box in the storage area
4. It could be worthwhile to get a shelf or to get drawers, depending on what kinds of stuff you have a lot of.

Can you make your bed higher?

@cheebdragon Yeah, that’ll help. You can then make the area under the bed your “storage area.”

I love having a higher bed because it doubles your storage space, plus it keeps the dogs and cats off my bed. The only downside is that my son messes up the bed everytime he tries to climb up on it, it’s really annoying.

put shelves on the wall. not decorative shelves, but get some brackets at your local Home Depot or whatever, put the brackets up and then put long pieces of wide plank wood, wall to wall. First shelf about a foot or foot and a half from ceiling, and then about 3 to 5 a foot to a foot and a half apart. You can store everything up there, if you want it looking neat you can put it in bins or baskets. if you really want to cover it up you can hang a curtain or cloth in front of the shelves. Shelves are great.

Make stack A and stack B.

Stack A is for the items you want to keep.

Stack B is for the items you want to give to Goodwill.
