Can anyone recommend a style of blazer that best minimizes large thighs?

Asked by erikaziger (345points) October 31st, 2010

I don’t need an exact link (although, if you have one great). I just need an idea of which style of blazer will make my thighs look slimmer when I wear it with pants.

Single, rather than double-breasted,lower,rather than higher neckline/lapels would be my suggestion.

One that hits at least hip length and is a bit tapered at the waist. A blazer that is patterned and worn with solid dark trousers draws attention to the top and not the bottom.

The extra long, tunic style with a v-neck.

It’s interesting @Pied_Pfeffer said one that is tapered at the waist. I was going to say just the opposite, tapered at the waist, I would think, means flared over the hips which would accentuate. I assumed straight down from chest would attract less attention to the area you are trying to disguise.

But I could be wrong!

My thighs have gotten heavier after switching to a desk job for about 10 years, while the waist and above has stayed pretty much the same. Finding stores that sell matching jackets separately from the trousers has been a godsend, as I can get a matching suit with a smaller jacket than a slacks size.

Since separate sizes aren’t always possible, finding one that tapers in at the waist appears to fit better and not like I’m wearing a sack. The key also seems to be wearing a bright or patterned blouse/top to draw attention to the upper part of the body.

@Pied_Pfeffer – It all sounds reasonable, especially the sack part.

@erikaziger – ignore my comment please, hehehe!
