What's a cool, fun, craft to do?

Asked by awomanscorned (11261points) November 1st, 2010

I’ve got 3 days off work and don’t know what to do with myself. And I’d rather not spend money on it. So something fairly inexpensive…

Does fluther not count as a craft?

For a while I was into finding cool plates, breaking them up and gluing them on to ceramic plant pots—like a mosaic. I wandered away from it after a while, but some folks did some absolutely amazing things. I saw a picture of an entire dresser a gal had done! It was beautiful. Here is a random website I just found for you…I didn’t really like most of the ideas she had in the beginning, but down further she was getting cool.

@sleepdoc Fluther is an obsession. There is a difference!

Do some yard work, for gods sake.

@ChazMaz You don’t even know where she lives! She could live in an apartment and HAVE no yard! Or…she could live in Kansas where it’s getting cold and the yard is dying off. Not much to do out there mpw except rake leaves, but that would be spinning your wheels because we have another month of leave fall, and you’ll just have to do it all over again!

“Not much to do out there mpw except rake leaves,”

See, you do see it my way. :-)

But I also said it would be a waste of time at this point, Chaz! So there! Also, I didn’t say “mpw.” I said “now.” So there again!

If you don’t mind the risk of papercuts, you can try origami or papercraft.

If you get a hard surface, like a table or piece of wood, get some liquid glass and pour on top when you’re through…makes a cool surface that way.

Make some flour and water paste, add food coloring, and then smear it all over your walls. It makes wonderful designs, and it is fully washable.

Well, with Christmas coming up you could make some Christmas ornaments. (Unless you are anti-Christmas.) One fun craft is Cinnamon Christmas Ornaments. All you need is cinnamon and applesauce. Here is the link: http://www.ehow.com/how_5538_make-cinnamon-ornaments.html
You could also make some Thanksgiving cards or Christmas cards. You could decorate cards by painting, drawing or using photos. Let us know what you make.

@noelleptc I agree…I would never try the paste and food color on the walls. What a mess! But, to each his/her own.

@noelleptc It comes off with soap and water – honest. However, just use a giant strip of butcher paper if you feel more comfortable with that, it’s just as much fun.

I would think the food coloring would stain the walls, @YARNLADY
