How many American conservatives belong to the group of ultra conservatives?

Are you asking the conservatives here to classify themselves, or for us to estimate?
I can say that in my region, the number of ultra conservatives are rising verrrrry quickly. I’d say 50% ultra, 30% standard, 20% moderate here.

I’d guess 30% ultra, 60% standard and 10 percent moderate.

You know these numbers are only impressions, right? No way to verify them.

@wundayatta – Yes, therefore I wrote: knowing well that these numbers won’t be precise. Scientific studies based on extensive surveys could give us some estimates, though.

Here’s one 2009 poll. In this one, those who labeled themselves “very conservative” comprised 9% of the population.

I would believe that the top 10% of wealthy are ultra conservatives.

I don’t think that’s true. Bill Gates and Warren Buffett spring immediately to mind,

I am fiscally conservative, environmentally conservative (and I always wonder why liberals seem to believe that they have a claim to environmental conservation, or do I misunderstand?), religiously I’ll worry about me, you worry about you. Socially I am rather liberal.
I don’t feel that I could classify myself as fitting in any of your groups. What do you think.

These people clearly understand the power at their fingertips. Knowing this, they completely know how to wield it.

That being a necessary conservative action. To prevent absolute power from corrupting and in their case destroying. In a sense, just as parents care for their children.
Now they might give a more “liberal” impression. Only because, as I said. Most people can’t handle the truth.

What I have found in life that seems to hold true. Truth is stranger than fiction.

It would be responsible to not be conservative. With such affluence.

I think this depends on where you live. The more rural areas do tend to be very conservative. Unfortunately true conservatism has been hi-jacked by the far-right.
