What memories would you choose?

Asked by cubozoa (1198points) November 5th, 2010

I’ve just watched Momento. For those who haven’t seen the film, the main character suffers from a condition (anterograde amnesia) which means that he has no short term memory. To get by, he takes polaroid photos and writes himself notes – where he lives, people to trust, things to do. For more important facts, he has them tattooed on his body.

So, my question is this. If you were to suffer from a similar condition, what would you want to remember? What would you take polaroids of? What would you write down? Is there anything important enough that you would want to have a tattoo? Is there a minimal set of information that would allow you to get through a day?

My job, financial, and relationship information?

I’d write myself a note saying “Memento (not Momento)”.

even though some of the memories are painful id want to remember psychological changes that happened in the blink of an eye; the kind of stuff that has molded my attitudes towards life

I’d want polaroids of all the people that have touched my life, with a note of their name and maybe one sentence explaining how…

I think your relationships with people, friends, family etc help you figure out your place in this world… :-)
