Are there any therapy clinics or retreats that help straight people be gay?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) November 9th, 2010

Can anyone point out an instance where straight people entered some type of therapy to be gay? This is about twice now that Nightline had a segment on some treatment or therapy that some gay people use to try not to be gay, be it clinics that treat the suppose SSAD, a retreat program like ”Journey Into Manhood” that suppose to offer Ex-gay Reparative Therapy. That got me to wondering if there was an opposite of that for straight people who want help being gay, a OSAD of sorts?

No, because there is no social premium on straight people becoming gay so there would not be any customers.

That would preclude that “gay” was a conscious choice, which it’s not.

I agree 100% with @BarnacleBill. I know that “treatments” exist for gay people who are in denial of their sexuality, but all it is to me is brainwashing with the goal of suppressing one’s natural tendencies. I’d imagine that any sort of “straight-to-gay” therapy would be the same thing.
Your body and heart tell you what they want (i.e. male/female/both/none). There’s no way to circumvent that.

I wish there were—despite years of grueling home schooling, I never became a lesbian.

I know for a fact that there is a kind of crypto-gay-anarchist group out there, hiding somewhere in the Sierra Nevadas that kidnaps innocent white straight boys and attempts, using radical brain washing techniques to turn them into gays. These brainwashed gays are hiding in society today, secretly looking for their next victims; infiltrating the halls of government (where they install stealth flower arrangements, before they kidnap judges and staff aides to convert them to homosexuality. It’s a fact!

I think the catholic church do a pretty good job at turning young boys gay ;)

Lol sorry but this is a funny worded question. XD
But no I’m pretty sure something like that doesn’t exist. I’m extremely disturbed and frightened by things like Ex-gay Reparative Therapy though.

It’s seems to me the real money would be in treatments to be pansexual. I’m not interested in being gay, but it seems to me pansexuality trumps homosexuality and heterosexuality. Maximum flexibility is a good thing.

@syphotoguy Oh no you di’in, you actually went there?

@wundayatta pretty funny answer. It could almost be true considering the number of Republican gay bashers that have been dragged out of the closet.

But @Ron_C. It is true. I told you. It’s a fact! If you don’t believe me, then you go trekking through the Sierras! ;-)
