Who is Barter?

Okay first of I’m not talking about trading services.
I’m looking for a famous person named Barter. Likely a nickname. Not John Barter or James Barter. I think the person I’m looking for had something to do with killings. Either he was a killer or he was killed. He could be a t.v show character or a real life person. Who is Barter?
