How does one get nail polish out of cotton/polyester/spandex pants?

I have a lovely pair of dark blue, stretchy, skinny jeans that, unfortunately, I got some bright orange, sparkly nail polish on. I thought that running them through the washer would deal with the nail polish, but I was sadly mistaken. My mom suggested spending a few judicious hours scrubbing with nail polish remover but I fear that sending the pants through the washer and dryer may have set the stain beyond an easy repair.

Naturally, I turn to fluther. How would you experienced clothes-washers deal with such a stain?

I figure that a last ditch effort could be to get a really cool patch to sew over the stain but I would like to save the pants in their unblemished state if I can.
