If you had your druthers, would you like to see a link to which question a person was in when they recieved the "Herman Mellville award," or whatever award rather than a link to a description of the award?

wouldn’t hurt!

Well, it seems to me that you find the action when you click on (for example) “Jonsblond was just given a great answer” because great answer takes you to the question in question…and that’s where everyone is! Someone received the Feeding Frenzy award a minute ago….where is that happening??? I wanna be in on the feeding frenzy!!!

I don’t care about people’s awards enough to want to know.

YES I would. Much more than a description.

Maybe if the response/question were tagged with the award itself, then clicking on that would lead to the description.

plus it would be pretty cool to see the responses and questions get badges. ;-)

Yes – I’ve often felt that would be better.

YES!

It’s kind of frustrating when you see someone got an award for a really good answer, but not being able to see what the answer was.

I don’t usually pay much attention to the awards. But I would love to know what “druthers” are.

iamthemob's avatar

@downtide – I’m pretty sure it’s a mash up of “If you would rather” – would rather – wouldrather – ‘drather – druthers.

Basically, druthers means choice or preference.

downtide's avatar

@iamthemob Thanks. I’ve seen the word before, but never knew what it meant.

Blueroses's avatar

Yes! Half the time I can’t figure out reasons for my own awards and I’m just damned nosy about everyone else’s.

Dutchess_III's avatar

LOL! Yeah! It’s a slurring of “Would you rather…” I’ve heard and used it all of my life. I understand that its slang, so I only use it in a casual way. :)

I’m with @marinelife – only I don’t care enough about awards period to want to know. But I understand the sentiment, @Dutchess_III – for practicality’s sake – click on the award and go to the action, not the stupid awards page for the umpteenth time.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@seazen Um… Clicking on the award just takes me to the awards page. How do I get to the action?

bob_'s avatar

@Dutchess_III Um, I think he’s saying that he understands that that is what you’re asking for.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@bob_ Oh! Thenk you! Happy Thanksgiving bob_!!

bob_'s avatar

@Dutchess_III Thanks, you too!

Though we don’t really celebrate that in Mexico…

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, you can if you WANT to! I won’t mind!

bob_'s avatar

I could have used the day off.

CyanoticWasp's avatar

I don’t care as much about ‘the awards themselves’ as much as ‘I sure would like to see that question (or answer, or whatever). Yeah, good idea.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Maybe we’ll change the world here, @CyanoticWasp!

@bob_ That’s one of the coolest parts, the days off. Thanksgiving day oughta be world wide, like Christmas!

janbb's avatar

@bob_ I’m fixing you a turkey taco.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I’m fixing him a turkey SANDWICH!!!

Kraigmo's avatar

Yes, I’ve thought that in my head a few times. I agree.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Hm. I wonder if The Gods and Goddesses are listening?
HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ANYBODY OUT THERE?

timtrueman's avatar

That would require a database-level change and we’re busy keeping the site up and making it faster now. It’s always been something we’d like to do but for now that’s the way it is.

augustlan's avatar

I’d rather it be that way, too, but I know it’s not high on the priority list right now. Hopefully someday! :)

Dutchess_III's avatar

Ok! Thanks for the pop in @timtrueman! When you do get the time to change it, go ahead and name all the awards after me at the same time. It would save time down the road. See. :)
