Where should I put a chunk of blonde in my hair?

Asked by chasy (127points) December 2nd, 2010

I have auburn hair. I mostly wear my hair pulled back in a bun/ponytail but occasionally wear it down, parted on the left, or in pigtails. Where should I put a chunk of blonde so that it’s visible in almost every hairstyle without looking weird??

You should put a streak, maybe.

How does blond hair on a auburn head not “look weird”? If you’re going for such a bold statement, don’t worry about where you put it.

On the side with most hair, toward the front. Not the very front, but one lock (maybe two) of hair back.

LOL @syz! I have blonde highlights all through the top layer of my hair so my hair isn’t that dark on top. My hair is actually not that dark to begin with.

@Supacase Thanks! I will try that. And @troubleinharlem, I’ll check out that link. :)

Thank you everyone, for responding! :)

A chunk, generally, does not look good, it looks like “a chunk of blond in hair.” I wouldn’t do it.

@troubleinharlem Yes! That is exactly the look I’m going for! That gives me a good visual for placement too. Thank you! :)

Let me add my two cents for the streak rather than a chunk.

If you had to I would do a blonde streak in the hair behind my ear.

Yeah, I shouldn’t have said “chunk”. I actually meant streak. ½ an inch wide or less. :P

I agree with @lucillelucillelucille don’t do it

I’m curious why some think I shouldn’t do it. Does anyone mind elaborating? :)

Well I have a friend with auburn hair and I’m not sure if its the same shade, but if she had blonde her hair she would look like a freak. Again I don’t know the exact shade of your hair but I know that whenever i think auburn I think of my friend who would not look good with blonde.

Here’s my actual hair color. You can see the blonde highlights that have already grown out several inches. That’s the same color blonde I want to do – just a little thicker and in one place.

I’m thinking @Supacase‘s suggestion of one or two locks back from the front is perfect. And that jives with what you’re suggesting, @awacting. Thanks! :D

dont do it..it will look stupid…chunks of colour usually do and especially auburn and blonde

I don’t think you should do it either. I think you should like your hair the way it is and if you want something different get a hair cut:)
