Doesn't the crime charge against Julian Assange seem to have "CIA" written all over it?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) December 7th, 2010

Doesn’t the accusation against Julian Assange reek of a CIA plot even though it was the Swede doing it? Does it seem as if the Swedes are doing the US dirty work, being Uncle Sam’s lackey? Even though he did not obtain the info and just posted it, and Uncle Sam got caught with his pants down more than Clinton in the Oval office. The timing seems very suspect, and considering dirty tricks the CIA has pulled in the past it appears they would do anything to shut him down. Attacking him for posting expose’ stuff handed to him is like a backdoor attack on the freedom of the press or free speech? Are there those passionate enough that even with Assange sidelined Wikileaks will survive to keep on doing the good work?

I really don’t think it’s some kind of “plot” that the CIA is directly responsible for. What Assange and Wikileaks did; they did completely in public. The retaliation against him and his organization, at least the parts of it we are seeing are also being done in public. If the CIA or any other similar agencies are involved, whatever they are doing, I don’t think we are seeing it.

I don’t think the CIA is behind the sex charges. The timing is wrong. The charges in Sweden were originally filed on Aug. 20, 2010 long before the diplomatic cables were put out on Wikileaks.
