What are you so really pissed about that you would physically attack a Royal or Head of State?

Asked by Cruiser (40449points) December 10th, 2010

Apparently protesters in London are so riled up, one “yob” managed to poke Camilla with a stick through an open window of the Royal Rolls Royce. I get my undies in a bunch over the lousy job our country does spending our tax money but not sure I would attack our Governor or President over it. Maybe throw a creme pie. But things are pretty grim and people are starting to get impatient with our world leaders. So do any jellies have things so tightly wound up that given the chance you would poke your leader with a stick and if so what for??

Are you kidding??I would poke anyone with a stick for any reason! XD

And I would not poke anyone with a stick for any reason, but I am really, really upset that DADT will not be repealed this year (and wasn’t last year or the year before.)

Mob mentality does things that people would never ordinarily do. They aren’t thinking any more. Their blood lust is up. They just move instinctively.

I am not a person who wants to participate in physical violence, anywhere or at any time. I would resort to it only to defend myself and those I loved and only when backed into a corner. If the leader was attacking me, I might poke him or her with a stick in the eye if I had the chance.

Tripling tuition rates is a pretty decent reason, though I’m sure someone else deserved the poking more.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

…and this is how I’d do it ;)

Rage on!

marinelife's avatar

I would not. It is part of the danger of mobs. People stop thinking.

I cannot imagine why anyone would feel that they have the right to put their hands another person. I once PM’d a jelly on this site about her comments about bitch slapping people. She told me that people had to prove to her that she should not hit them. I don’t subscribe to this attitude, nor do I understand it. I hope whoever did it is caught and punished.

Breed Specific Legislation (the banning of so called dangerous dog breeds) makes me really angry. I doubt poking any member of the Royal family is going to help my cause though. I quite like Charles and Camilla so I’d definitely leave them alone but I’d love to poke David Cameron with a stick. That man makes me want to rip my own eyeballs out!

I have a stick I’d like to poke @ ... oh, forget it.

I was deeply saddened at the scenes on last night’s news but hey you know they are messing with people’s entire lives here. Not that that is an excuse to attack a member of the Royal Family but I think it shows how powerless people feel when they resort to violence such as this… that said…

I quite like the idea of being poked with a stick but I wouldn’t be a pokin’ anyone else….:-)

In all seriousness I don’t think it (poking people or violence) makes any difference and this has shown in the outcome of aforementioned debate, which is very sad indeed.

Nah, I’m not seeing the point of poking someone with a stick. With my luck, I would be put in jail and my issues still would not be resolved.

I have no idea why the dumbass students decided to attack the Royals…. It’s not like they had anything to do with the legislation anyway. It’s done nothing to help their cause.

Back to the question though, nothing I dont think, short of murder or paedophilia, would incite me to poke a stick at the Royals or a head of state. But even then… violence just aint me see. I prefer a good old row!
Having said that, the contant demands for free university education makes wants me to poke these students with a stick… but I think that’s because I’m just bored of it all. It’s been going on for weeks now.

I have frequently wished I could throw various foods at our presidents for different bonehead moves, but I don’t know if you consider that an “attack”...

Well the reason most of you wouldn’t do such a thing is because you have enough, the fact that you can’t imagine ever Stooping so low is because you live in a comfortable haze, where there is no reason to feel that angry, or you are incapable of seeing the motivation behind others anger, i find that troubling, the fact that most of you cannot empathise with certain injustices, is worrying, not to mention smug. i bet if the shoe was on the other foot you’d be pissed, you may even take the said shoe and cast it in anger. The Royal family are an outrageous anachronism, they shape what Britain is and they shouldn’t, Britain should define itself according to it’s societal standards, not one based on hereditary titles, land and wealth. The royal family are a horribly snooty institution, as long as they exist, an egalitarian society is impossible and that’s the point, they symbolise snobbery and are the custodians of social disparity. France is a better place as a Republic, so is America.

There are things that make me pinch myself everyday, such is my utter disbelief in their continued existence, The royal family is one, and the war/Occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan is the other.

It’s funny when I find myself agreeing with @mammal in any way. Not that it happens often, and it certainly hasn’t happened here completely, I also wonder why the UK retains all of the trappings of royalty. (In one sense I understand it, because a large part of the country is dependent upon “the throne” for justifications of its existence – including Parliament – and Parliament itself is composed of the House of Commons and House of Lords, which are both statements of relationship to “the throne”. So if “the throne” disappears, then where does Parliament fit in?)

In another sense, I can see why they maintain the trappings, wealth and privilege associated with the throne, because it’s such a godawful job with no real privacy—who would want it, otherwise?

And I certainly don’t pinch myself every day, either. That sounds entirely too British for me, like shaving with cold water, maintaining a stiff upper lip, and all that.

I can’t believe more people haven’t tried to poke Camilla with a stick.

I could care less about poking any world leaders, but, I have a couple of friends I’d like to poke now and then when their quirks start annoying me. lol

talljasperman's avatar

them poking me first

lillycoyote's avatar

@talljasperman I would take out a royal; I would take out the Pope even, if he or she poked me with a stick first. You have a right to defend yourself, no matter who it is attacking you, and no matter with what. I believe my 2nd amendment right to bear arms includes poking people with a stick, but I suppose I should consult a lawyer specializing in constitutional law on that one.

i’d like to poke Sarah Palin, but not with a stick
