What's a good fairy tale costume?

Asked by Mariique (60points) April 7th, 2008

My friend is having a party where the guests have to dress up as someone (or something) from a fairy tale. What should I be?

I was going to say, Cinderella, but since its for an adult, how about lady Godiva

Mariique's avatar

Haha, that would be awsome! I don’t really have the guts (or the hair) to do it but great answer.

Actually, I did one year. It was a spur of the moment type thing and since I just happened to have my horse with me, I thought, why not! We even won $500.00. LOL

I don’t think it is the right place for a horse really… Maybe I should team up with someone already dressed up as a horse. They just always seem to have a problem finding someone to be the horse’s but-part. Do you have any other ideas?

You should be Little Red Riding Hood, perhaps you can bring or find a wolf.

Aww that vould be cute. I just have to find a red apron and some kind of LRRH-dress. Hmm…

I’ve always wanted to do a wolf/LRRH with a girlfriend for halloween.

@Mariique, do you mind if I ask how old you are? I guess than should have been my first question, eh?

Mariique's avatar

I’m 19 so I can use both of your ideas ;) English is not my native language if you’re wondering about my grammar…

Do you have a date? Are you going solo?
would you be willing to play the male part?like Prince Charming. My youngest daughter was him one year.

Are we speaking strictly like, Mother Goose stuff, because in my opinion the Old-English fairy tales are the best, and it would be easy to pull of, say, a generic wood nymph?

peedub's avatar

you can be a cute toad.

Everyone loves elves.

My boyfriend hates dressing up so he refuses to go but I could be a part of a team with a friend of mine. And I am definetly willing to play the male part – it is supposed to be fun at the party and none of us are very selfconcious ;)

Jeez foolaholic – a generic wood nymph? Explain, please (as I said; English is not my native language)

Foolaholic's avatar

Something like this. You don’t even have to do wings, just a flowing green dress and a flower tied in your hair. Simple and unique.

I actually have a brown dress (generic autumn wood nymph) that looks a bit like that one (well, it obviously isn’t made of leaves) but i do think I need wings. And maybe pointy ears (any ideas?). And fairy dust.
What does the word ‘generic’ mean by the way?

sccrowell's avatar

@foolaholic, that is great!!! Well done…

kapuerajam's avatar

try dressing up as Hansel and Gretel.

Mariique's avatar

I need a Hansel then… I just don’t think I would be recognized as Gretel. How would you do it?

kapuerajam's avatar

If you have a brother take him as Hansel

Mariique's avatar

I do, but he is 12 years older than me and I dont think he wants to go ;)

kapuerajam's avatar

oh see if your boyfreind has a brother so he won’t be jelous

Mariique's avatar

He does but he’s also like 15 years older than me and living about 500 kilometers away :) But I think this has gone a bit of track…

kapuerajam's avatar

sorry just trying to help see yah : )

Mariique's avatar

So far I think I’m going for the nymph-idea (thanks Foolaholic) – if anyone have ideas on how to make nymph-wings please do write :)

Foolaholic's avatar

By the way, how much time do you have before the party?

gooch's avatar

Dorthy from the Wizard of OZ. She works alone or with friends. She is also kinds sexy if you want her to be.

Mariique's avatar

The party is held April 26th, so there is time for preperations :)
