Should iPhone app developers start making Fluther apps/clients?

Asked by sahuleka546 (251points) December 27th, 2010 from iPhone

Like Twitter apps (Echofon, UberTwitter, etc) but for Fluther.

I write iPhone apps. http://i.fluther.com/ is pretty damn good. The only thing I can think of to add is push notifications if your Q is answered. But that is hardly worth the trouble. And I don’t work for them so I wouldn’t have access to the data since a API was never released.

There was an iPhone app but it was less functional than the iPhone webpage.

@Not_the_CIA I think i.fluther.com also needs push notifications whenever we get replies, it’s kind of annoying to have to check each individual question just to check it.

@Lightlyseared I wish they’d make another one, clients tend to load data faster than Safari.

@sahuleka546 It is unlikely that much Fluther development will be done by the owners in the future. See the latest blog post..

@Not_the_CIA Ryan?

@sahuleka546 you don’t need to check every question to see which one has replies. Fluther has a page that shows you only the questions that have had replies since you last looked at it and how many replies it has.

Also as most apps use safari to render Internet content I don’t see how it’s going to make accessing the site any quicker.

@janbb oh well then, I can only hope…

@Lightlyseared thanks, didn’t know that page even existed. Echofon loads data faster than Safari, but that’s probably because my cellular data service is crap.

I should clarify a bit. Twitter has a robust API (application programming interface) and Fluther doesn’t. Twitter makes it easy to grab data without going to the actual site. That is why twitter apps are fast. They aren’t pulling down shit like CSS files and javascript.

I have been begging for a Fluther API for years and was always told that it was being worked on. Now that Fluther will no longer be developed I should probably shut things like the map and random and all the greasemonkey scripts I wrote for the site.
