With grandkids…couldn’t have been better.

Quiet, but excellent. Just my wife and I with a live feed to New York City and a box of chocolates. It was a lot different than the parties we usually go to, but we both are pretty happy about it.

I had to tone it down some, because my son and his wife went out with their friends and left the toddlers with me. I’m working on my only glass of champagne right now, and watching Barney

I spent it with my dad and my godfather (as they were eating In-N-Out), my mom and her two friends who randomly stopped by, one of whom is the mother of some kid in school that I hated, with her dog, Turbo, and we just sat around and talked and the lady who’s name I forgot, but who’s kid I hated in school was super sweet and we had a good conversation and we’ll be seeing them again later on today for my mom’s annual New Year’s Day party.
Badda bing badda boom. I’m exhausted. Good night and happy new year everyone! :]

And lol @ lamesauce. XD

Very quiet, just hubby, fur/feather babies and myself. Watched tv, one of the tv channels were showing back to back “Carry on” films which we love so had a chuckle but struggled to stay awake till midnight, then went off to bed. Have a wonderful, magical 2011 everyone,
hugs honeys xx

I didn’t actually know it was new years eve. I even had plans. I thought today was Thursday. I was pretty much writing code from when I woke up to around 1:30AM. Maybe I should get a TV.

I hung out with a good friend. It was great :)

Never left the house – just the way we like it.
I’m not sure if it’s my imagination or not but there seemed to be more personal fireworks in the neighborhood this year. I think a fourth family might have joined the fray. Great! Bring it!

LuckyGuy's avatar

@Not_the_CIA My hero! I remember those days. Lots of pizza and Mountain Dew.
Don’t forget to keep track of your billable hours.

Not_the_CIA's avatar

@worriedguy – It is a personal project. But I did have pizza and booze. The pizza was from 7–11 but it wasn’t that bad.

It was the best New Years Party at home….sleep, sleep…and yes…more sleep

during the day i ran errands and went shopping, which was great. i thought i was “shopped out” from Christmas but apparently i got the urge once again and i enjoyed myself greatly.

i was home at 6, around 8 i cooked some “special food” which was shrimp, lamb chops, rice and broccoli, and some fun dessert. i spent the eve on the phone and computer, and watched the ball drop on TV. it was very enjoyable for me. i live about one hour from NYC and i never envy those who spend their day in Times Square.

Dreaming that I was in World War 2 with bombs falling all around me. I was hearing those fireworks in my sleep.

The fireworks at midnight woke me up, and I said happy new year to my husband, and then went back to sleep.

Great time in at First NIght in downtown St. Petersburg preceded by an Indian dinner with 8 friends. Low-key but festive and warm – a a lovely New Year’s Eve.

Had a nice evening home alone with fur babies, including Grits (at left) to celebrate his birthday!

It was great. We only have a few friends who live in town, and they’re all “professionals” who can afford to go out and spend all kinds of money (we are definitely not and we definitely can’t). So we stayed home and watched The Dark Knight and had a couple of drinks.

I found out, though, that in downtown Toronto, people honk their horns and yell on the street for about an hour after midnight. It was kinda cool for 5 minutes, but then I wanted to go to bed and got mad at the yelling men on the street :S

Stayed in with my SO and our furry family members. Watched TV then went outside to see the fireworks and Chinese lanterns at midnight. Lovely.
Happy New Year everyone :)

We had a good time. We ate dinner (burgers and home made fries) and then played board and card games until almost midnight. We played Trouble, Memory, Monopoly, Snorta, Minotaurus, Old Maid, and Doggie match (some kiddie card game my son had). It was a lot of fun. Then we stopped at about 11:30pm and turned on the tv to watch the ball fall. At midnight, we made a toast and drank our sparkling grape juice. I kissed my husband and then we all went to bed. :-)

I was in my room playing video games until 45 mins. after the ball dropped on EST. (I’m in CST)

Excellent. I’d made reservations for my SO and I to take our parents out to dinner then home to our house for coffee and a Midnight champagne toast. After dinner while still at the restaurant, my SO proposed to me and it turned out our folks had known about it ahead of time. At home we lit some fireworks, toasted our feeling blessed with having each other, all of us and then went for some much needed sleep. I kind of had 4th of July, NYE and faerytale princess moment all rolled into one night. Whew.

I could’ve stood to meet some men I hadn’t already met (I was at a house party), but it was fun being with friends!
And congrats to you, @Neizvestnaya!

@Neizvestnaya What a memorable, beautiful and special moment. Thank for sharing such wonderful news. When is the wedding?

Neizvestnaya's avatar

@AmWiser: We are looking at 2012 so we can afford a honeymoon/vacation. I’ve never been out of the USA and this is the stuff of my childhood National Geographic dreams!

It was lamesauce from an outsider looking in….but my boyfriend and I were both sick and I’m fairly sure I have a wisdom tooth coming in and was having some mouth/jaw pain….we planned to go out but both realized we were kidding ourselves and ended up just hanging around and going to my friends house for the countdown. I overall had 2 glasses of champagne. I said to my boyfriend jokingly that we went from the new exciting couple last year that stayed out in Brooklyn til 5 in the morning dancing and being crazy to the old married couple that goes to bed before the ball drops this year lol. But my dad got drunk on wine and passed out at the computer with his ipod blaring, and that was hilarious, so it made it all worth it.

SavoirFaire's avatar

@deni It may not have been a great New Year’s celebration, but it may end up one of those precious moments. My wife and I sometimes have those days where none of our plans work out, but everything’s still fine because we get to be with each other. It’s completely sappy, yes. But it’s always worth whatever we missed.

deni's avatar

@SavoirFaire That’s what I say! I personally didn’t care if we went out…I was a little nervous that he would be bored if we just sat around, but he said what I was thinking, that it just mattered that we were together. And it was fun in its own way, even though we were sick and it was simple. :)

Lying on the couch with a bad cold, sore throat, and watching old Alfred Hitchcock movies. Not the best way to bring in the New Year.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

It was good – I spent it with the two people I love most, with my kids and with my family (who were grouchy, as always). We ate, we watched Underworld and we laughed.

I don’t totally remember midnight. I was too far wasted and as for the headache, I assume I had tons of fun. My fiancĂ© is telling me all about last night right now. But anyways I started the new year in a new way.
though I most definitely won’t make a habit of getting wasted

OreetCocker's avatar

Very noisy and extremely drunken. Crawled into bed at 6am :-)

boxer3's avatar

kinda fun, kind of frustrating.
Ended up leaving a club I got into free,
to meet up with a couple of other people-
They wanted to check out a different club-
but everything was sold out-
ended up at the place I stared and had to spend
twenty bucks to get back in….

and today I got a speeding ticket.
2011’s already looking promising…..

AMAZING!!!!!! I was with two friends and we drank sodas and blasted music and watched movies until 4:00 in the morning. That’sreetty good for a n eighth grader :)

Mine was pretty good on Thursday my boyfriend and I went to a Shpongle and Disco Biscuits concert with our friends Scott and Mike. Yesterday we went with the same two friends to a Brother’s Past and Lotus concert. Really good stuff.
