I want to start cross country skiing. Have any tips on what to look out for in purchasing equipment?

Any brands that are better than others? My husband’s grandfather was an Olympic ski jumper and also competed in cross country, Nordic combined etc. He favoured Fischer. Are they still the best?

What set up would be good for a beginner but would do well as my skills improved?

I’d start off by renting equipment.

All the places to rent are too far away to make that practical. I’m hoping to find something second hand.

This is what I did with my down hill ski equipment. I bought second hand and then upgraded when I had more experience.

@tranquilsea Ah, I understand, then sorry I can’t help. I’m a downhill skier myself.
