Bank of Hawaii has branches all over the islands, and it was rated the safest bank in the country.

Major mainland banks did not make on island. Probably for all the reasons you do not want to do business with them. Bank of Hawaii and 1st Hawaiian are the big ones and both very good. I use of BOH and use their Hawaiian Miles debit card. They deposit my checks and make funds available immediately on island. You can open it online from the mainland or anywhere with free set of first checks. www.boh.com
