Do you know of any incidents where teens or college students have behaved viciously?

Asked by mindful (345points) January 15th, 2011

One I remember was when this teen girl in high school made fun of a dead brother of a male peer. It ended with the girl getting a beating and turning her it into a vegetative state. To me the girl was the vicious one.
(Although I don’t like the idea of paralyzed girl and I don’t encourage violence but the girl had some sort of physical retribution coming in my opinion)

Then there is the famous case from the east Coast U.S where in the first year of college a Homosexual teen committed suicide after two of his peers from his dorm had opened up a web-cam connection in his room and could see his associations with another male and decided to spread the news.

You mean like Columbine? Or the students who went to school with the Little Rock Nine?

@papayalily . I am not sure about all of the details about the Columbine incident. I have heard that one of the two shooters was a smart guy who thought he was superior to everyone else and is being considered a sociopath. I know that a preliminary ruling was that it was a case of bullying where the the two shooters were getting bullied however I don’t know about any details of bullying in the Columbine. I’ll do some research to find some very specific details about the incident. In the mean time can you fill me in with what you know? Where they bullied? and what kind of bullying happened? Thanks

@mindful Two students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, shot up the school around noon on April 20, 1999. They killed 12 students, 1 teacher, and wounded 21 others. They started in the cafeteria and worked their way towards the library. They placed bombs and Molotov cocktails throughout the school in addition to their guns (including semi-automatics). They eventually shot themselves in the library.

They were reportedly racist, anti-semitic, homophobic skinhead fucks who worshiped Nazis and were reportedly (but actually not) part of the Trenchcoat Mafia (which is why teachers freak the fuck out if you wear a trench coat to school, even if you just happen to like classic attire, Audrey Hepburn, and Humphrey Bogart.) They played violent video games, which is believed by some to have contributed to their mental state. They also listened to heavy metal/industrial music (KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein), which then made much of the blame fall on Marilyn Manson (despite neither boy being an actual fan of his work).

Eric is believed to have been depressive, and was on Luvox (an SSRI) at the time, which he was required to take as part of his court-ordered anger management. He was described by one as having “malignant narcissism… (with) pathological narcissism, antisocial features, paranoid traits, and unconstrained aggression” based on his diary entries. A police officer who arrested the two several years previously described him as “a very bright individual who is likely to succeed in life,” while Klebold was said to be intelligent, but “needs to understand that hard work is part of fulfilling a dream.” In his journal, Klebold wrote about his view that he and Harris were god-like and more highly evolved than every other human being, but his secret journal records self-loathing and suicidal intentions. Although both had difficulty controlling their anger, Klebold’s anger had led to his being more prone to serious trouble than Harris.

Five years after the attack, the FBI argued Harris was a clinical psychopath and Klebold was depressive. They believed the plan was masterminded by Harris, who they thought had a messianic-level superiority complex, probably due to bullying and hoped to illustrate his massive superiority to the world.

Columbine High School’s atmosphere is your typical jocks/cheerleaders picking on the outcasts type. It is horrendously bad (much more so than your average high school), and it reverted back to the way it was after an entire 6 months of peace. I went to school about 2 miles from there, albeit a few years behind.

The Italian Murder, which was fairly recent.

The death of Tyler Clementi, which might not be considered vicious, but it was horrible.

Along with all of these other people who I don’t have time to find the links for.
