What type of word document should I download (read)

Asked by Marchofthefox (787points) January 15th, 2011

I have a windows XP PC and the word processor isn’t installed and I cannot find the papers and do not have the cash to re-buy the disc or whatever I need to download it.
I need this for my weekly english homework. I downloaded a program called “Tinyword” and when I sent it to my teacher she said she could not open it. The document came out as squares. She’s using a Dell XP PC, too.

use openoffice (openoffice.org). its the best alternative to microsoft office!

yer welks. on another note it will also read both doc + docx word docs. dont forget to save your doc in word format for the teacher since openoffice opts to save it in its native format (odt i think).

Or upload the file to Google docs and you can edit, save, print, etc from your browser.
