Making a 2D drawing into a 3D model?

Asked by Grim (384points) April 11th, 2008

I have a picture from an online game I play, and I was interested in the possibility of turning a 2D character illustration into a 3D model. Does anyone have experience with Maya or other 3D programs and or knowledge of this conversion?

I plan to use a 3D printer to make a model of my character.

Thanks for any help.

You may enjoy Teddy or Blender

Teddy works, but the link to blender is dead. Although these were not what I was really looking for, I do enjoy them. Thank you.
