Are there any inexpensive hotels in Miami that are on the beach, or near enough to walk?

…or are all the beachfront hotels much more expensive? I’ve never been to Miami before, and have to go on a one-day trip for work. Since I won’t have a rental car with me, I’d love to be staying somewhere where I might get a chance to see the beach, even just for a couple hours. Any suggestions?

I wish I could be optimistic, but it has been my painful experience that ANY hotel located either on the beach or within a reasonable distance to it, is anything BUT “inexpensive.”

Also, respectfully, you haven’t defined the word “inexpensive” for us, with a specific dollar amount.
