Why is the YouTube comment section always full of the same phrases like, "I'd tap/hit that", "b***h is hot", "tits or GTFO","gay"...etc?

Asked by TooBlue (1066points) January 29th, 2011

Almost any video with a woman in there will attract these sorts of comments. I just don’t get it :/ Even if the girl hasn’t done anything wrong people will still call her a bitch. And if a guy doesn’t like something about the clip, they automatically assume he’s gay…wtf?

I’m really losing faith in humanity…do guys really think this way about women? I just didn’t realize it was that bad. I barely see girls writing anything even remotely similar like, “bastard is hot” or ” penis or GTFO”. Why?

I’m relatively young so maybe I don’t have have enough experience or understanding of this, but it’s really starting to affect me. Am I taking this too seriously?

Primarily because those who use such words and phrases are intellectualy challenged and thus have very limited vocabularies. : )

Hmm, I guess so, but it seems to be much deeper than that. Just wish I understood it…

It’s just a load of insecure young boys (and adult men who act like insecure young boys) thinking that if they swear and say nasty things about women’s bodies or joke that some guy’s a “fag”, they’re reaffirming to themselves that they’re! straight! macho! men! And, hey! Maybe by swearing and making filthy comments, they can shock and and upset people, too! Woohoo!

Really, don’t give it anymore consideration than that. Don’t take it personally. They don’t.

It’s because youtube commenters are morons.

People who comment on YouTube videos are typically idiots who can’t find anything better to do with their time. They’re childish and mad at the world and lash out at people they don’t know because they are complete losers and it entertains them and makes them feel better about themselves. You can’t measure humanity by the lowest people in it.

Don’t take anything you see on the internet seriously.

Chances are there is no deep Freudian explanation for all of this; it’s probably just a bunch of /b/tards. if you don’t know what /b/tards are, then you probably don’t want to

Also, “Tits or GTFO” is an internet meme. Using the word “gay” as a synonym for “stupid” or other similar words has been going on for a long time. It doesn’t mean they actually think whatever they are calling gay is homosexual.

Additionally, the relative anonymity of the internet makes people act like dipshits. See this diagram for more information.

Because those who write clever, clear, original, wise, informed, amusing or creative answers do not waste their talents on YouTube. We use Fluther instead.

Comment sections, being open to anyone, get commented on by, well, anyone. And you’ll notice that the vast majority of “anyone” is pretty common.

I once knew an old man who said the most important thing he learned from living 88 years was that “Men are stupid, and women are mean”. I don’t think he could’ve been more right. There are exceptions to every rule, and there are men out there that aren’t stupid as well as women who aren’t mean, but as a whole, this is spot on.

I’d imagine that most of the commenters on YouTube are young. Young as in 25 and under. The vast majority of boys (yes, BOYS) that age are purely ignorant and immature. What I’m saying is this: You don’t see a lot of 35 year old businessmen commenting on YouTube videos.

I love YouTube personally…for what I view it for, and I don’t post stupid comments, but unfortunately the world isn’t populated with mature, sensible, intelligent people. You just learn to ignore these people, not just on forums and websites, but in the “real world” as well. It would be nice if the world was filled with decent human beings. Unfortunately, however, that is not the case.

It can also all be boiled down to what videos you’re watching. There are certain types of videos that attract stupid comments.

@BhacSsylan, I think I beat you to the punch.

At least the comments can sometimes be entertaining, in a (bad) way.

Because the internet makes people stupid

Most people just do it for the lulz.

Because lots of idiots have computers and internet access.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard that image was the exact thing that came to mind soon as I read this question :P

@uberbatman That’s because it fits the situation so very perfectly. It’s a shame it does, but then if it didn’t they wouldn’t have made it. At least there didn’t seem to be any talk of mexican jew lizards

reijinni's avatar

Because most people that comment are brain dead.

@lbwhite89 I once knew an old man who said the most important thing he learned from living 88 years was that “Men are stupid, and women are mean”.

I came to a similar conclusion by the time I was 20-ish. I used to often say “Men are stupid, and women are crazy”.

I still believe this to be true, but I’ve learned men are a lot more stupid than women are crazy.
