When, where and how you plant a pineapple top?

I want to grow a pineapple, i just cut the pineapple today. I am not sure what to do with it. Is it the right time of year to plant it? Should it have direct sun? Is it easier to grow inside?

Not sure what season it grows in, but I recommend just planting it. I live in Brazil and my dad plants pineapples in the yard. They`re already growing, so I figure we`re in the season. His little plantation is planted in the sun.
