There are a couple of annoying fucks, but, for the most part, the folks here are good.

The community is the main factor. A lot of smart, funny people. The moderation is key though I may be slightly biased. ;) It really does make a huge difference, though. Spam, trolling, and personal attacks don’t last long. The site’s design and function plays a big part, too.

Is it superior? It is ran more consistently (I think) than other places I have been. Navigation is easier. Some of the features are lacking. I would say better but not in the realm of superior, to me that would be unequalled and there were other who for the fact of the attitudes of the users was not that bad.

I think the questions are more far-reaching, and it’s just fun. Maybe it’s the jellyfish metaphor.

It’s the only Q&A site with a talking typing cat.

The moderation.

Without it, this place would be very similar to Yahoo Answers, only cuter.

How is babby formed? How girl get pregnit? would be a common question on here if it wasn’t for Fluther moderation standards.

I like the easy way you get to see the questions, which are right on the front page.

I like the moderation, which keeps the level of discourse pretty high.

I can’t compare because I’ve never tried another site but I think more intelligent people, more interesting questions, and more civil discourse…and when its not civil the Mod Squad comes in!

It is what you make it. It is what you make of it. We all make it together, us users. Without us, it wouldn’t be all that interesting. I think it is getting more interesting as we go along and people get better at being jellies.

But I wouldn’t say we are superior. I don’t like that kind of comparison. And one of the things that makes fluther more amenable to me is that there is some resistance to ranking people. Of course, that doesn’t help when you see concrete evidence that people don’t like you as much as they do others.
