How do i transfer songs from previous Rock Band games?

I own Rock Band 3 but want to import songs from the first and second games, what do i need to do that?

Is it required to import from Rock Band 1, into 2 then into Rock Band 3 or can i just import both into Rock Band 3?

If you play online with the same gamertag, your purchased songs should automatically show up in your library. Songs from the actual disk won’t transfer over. If that band has a track pack, you’d have to purchase those to play them in Rock Band 3.

I think you can transfer particular songs (those that Harmonix still have licence agreements for) from Rock Band 1 & 2, but I think you need to pay for the ability to do so. Yeah, I’m pretty sure you have to pay.
