If you were following someone on fluther and they disappeared from your fluther, would you notice?

Asked by Ltryptophan (12091points) February 1st, 2011

This seems to have happened to me. Some brief time ago I was following 99. Now I’m following 98.

Where did that flutherian go?

Sometimes I notice, sometimes I don’t. Many jellies delete their accounts. Sometimes they are banned.

I would notice if they deleted their account or were banned, because then they’d gone from both my “Following” and “Followed By” folders.

If someone stops following me but retains their account, then I’ll be less likely to notice because my “Followed By” folder doesn’t open when I look at my external profile.

Probably not as I don’t know that many here, though there is one now I just might. Interesting question!

If a jellie stops being followed, and noone is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

bob_'s avatar

Sometimes I don’t notice, other times I don’t give a rat’s ass.

I’ve never checked and now I’m scared to.

If I especially liked them and/or if their leaving was a topic of discussion before they left, like stranger_in_a_strange_land and dpworkin.
If they happen to be zen, I just wait to see what his next zen-incarnation is.
@zenvelo was probably surprised that everyone assumed he/she was someone he/she wasn’t. but zenvelo is no CAPT Picard.
Some may unjoin your fluther, some may leave fluther altogether.

Nope. I couldn’t even tell you who is in my fluther right now.

@bob_ said it right. XD

No, I don’t think I would.

I wouldn’t notice (if I didn’t ban them) until I hadn’t seen them for a while, and went to check their profile only to find King Neptune, instead.

downtide's avatar

I wouldn’t notice because I can’t remember who’s on my list anyway.

I would and have noticed when a good friend calls it quits plus they usually say adios before they bail.

Not sure if I’d notice but where’s BoBo1946?

You would be surprised to know how many flutherites temporarily delete their account to force themselves to take a break. A few take on new names and some just offer @augustlan chocolates to restore their old one.

I am thrilled to see two returning from self-imposed hiatus just in the last 24 hours! :D

WELCOME BACK!!! Awesome to see you!

Also a few members have requested we actually ban them so they can be away from distraction for school or work. They have always asked to be returned to active status again once ready.

Bobo and any others on hiatus I think will likely return when ready.

I notice. I don’t put someone in my fluther unless there’s some kind of connection. I sometimes go in to see if they’re still on fluther if I haven’t heard from them in awhile.

wundayatta's avatar

I never look at my fluther, so how could I tell? I don’t use my fluther to follow people. I use it to say I like your ideas.

Dr_C's avatar

That depends.

The real question is whether or not some Jellies are ignorant or apathetic when it comes to others’ status.

The answer may be different for each of us, but in my case, I don’t know, and I don’t care.
