Did you know that today is National Weatherman's Day?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) February 5th, 2011

I did not know this either, until someone told me. So, who is it going to be for you? Is your favorite weatherman on the Weather Channel or is your favorite a local forecaster in your area? Have you ever cussed out a weatherman for making the incorrect forecast….when sunshine was forecast and it rained? My local weatherman stated that a snow storm was going in the opposite direction, from a planned trip my wife and I had counted on for days. The storm shifted and we were caught in a whiteout blizzard on the Pennyrile Parkway in Kentucky. My wife still believes that weather forecaster was on acid, when he make that prediction.Question: Who is he/she…...your favorite weather forecaster and have they ever made a really bad boo-boo forecast that upset your day?

I try to be mentally prepared for whatever happens but since the advent of technology for this they are generally spot on. Nobody is perfect.

Why?
At any rate, I make my own predictions! They screw up ALL the time around here. “O! Did a tornado just hit your town? Sorry. We missed it. We’ll blow the sirens now, though.” True story. I am serious. We got nailed by a hail storm once. I saw it comin’ and battened down the hatches. It beat on us for 15 minutes. Fifteen minutes after it had passed they issued the warning….

One of my high school friends is now a weatherman. Maybe I’ll send him a list of inaccurate predictions.

I don’t know his name but the one here in New York City NBC is cute – he’s kind of Italian looking. I can’t stand a goofy weatherman, and many of them feel like they have to act goofy.
