I am looking for solutions to arthritis inflamation (specifically rheumatoid arthritis). Can anyone suggest?

Asked by lynncowley (10points) February 19th, 2011

I am a sufferer with rheumatoid arthritis and am constantly onthe look out for treatment regimes and new advances (both traditional and alternative) that might be able to help relieve pain. Would be grateful of hearing of any that you know have worked.

Try raw honey.

Read up on it.

I take it with cinnamon for other benefits but, I have heard some amazing claims about the effects of raw honey on arthritis pain.

I have rheumatoid arthritis and have found several things that keep inflammation at a minimum:

1. Diet: You know the drill—green leafy veggies, and cut down on the red meat. Curiously, most people with RA are sensitive to tomatoes and other members of the nightshade family.
2.If you smoke, quit smoking. Tobacco is also in the nightshade family.
3. Increase anti-oxidants.
4. Glucosamine works wonders in containing inflammation.
5. Alternate heat and cold on the affected area. Cortisone cream can also be useful in pain relief.
6. Aleve (naproxin) works well for me in pain and inflammation reduction.

Thanks everyone. This is my first question on Fluther so it was interesting to see the reponses come in – quite a community. I run an arthritis self-help website so will try and link back to this if I can work out how! link
