Are there any jellies who are in a band?

Asked by Joker94 (8180points) February 19th, 2011

A friend and I are in a band together, and I got to wondering about the good people of Fluther. Are their any jellies out there who are in bands of their own? If you are, I’d be more than happy to listen to anything you’ve got!

I think Jimmy Page’s user name here is Axemusica. ;-)

I’ve recently joined a band nearly a month ago. So far I’ve played 6 or 7 shows with them. We really don’t have any recordings with me just yet, but Unseen Empire does have some tracks on myspace. I would suggest trying to find something with me on the track (which I don’t think our singer has released anywhere yet), since I’ve drastically changed the dynamic of how the band sounds.

I actually used to be in a punk cover band called Fluther a couple years before I found this site. That’s what made me take a look. I played bass.

My husband (who goes under the user name “raisedhand432”) is in 2 bands; one solo and one with 3 other guys; the former being Raised Hand, and the latter being Subterranean Bleu Minds. He plays all over our home state and is very prolific. I will let him know about your question and I’m sure he’ll be glad to send you some tracks!

Totally. We played stuff from bands like The Ramones, The Clash, The Damned, Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols, and a little AC/DC, Sabbath and even Neil Young to mix it up. We thought Fluther was a sweet sounding name, and our logo was a jellyfish with lightning bolt tentacles and an umlaut over the u in fluther.

We weren’t too serious, but we had a good time.

@cockswain That is actually totally awesome, man! And good choice of bands, too! I’m a big fan of Neil Young o_o

I used to be in a band called The Predecessors back in high school. I played guitar and wrote all of the music and lyrics (except the drums).

I had a solo steampunk/electronica project called Anachronistic Displacement that eventually evolved into an indie/dreampop/electronica project called Award For Science Fiction.

I currently play guitar in a cover band called Captain Longshanks and the Fantastic Bastards. We cover all kinds of shit… everything from rock renditions of gangsta rap to doo wop standards to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Third Eye Blind and other bands from the late 80s through the 90s that people my age are nostalgic about. I don’t have any recordings of me and Longshanks, but recordings from my other band and projects are out there. I’ll post links if I can find them.

I used to play bass in a punk band in high school. I’ve been meaning to try to get a new band together, but it’s been years since I played regularly, so who knows.

I sorta am. But not really. But kinda.

I was in a band in high school and we still jam occasionally (read: when our drummer is home from college). I played the bass in the group and co-wrote the music with the guitarist. We did mostly covers, but there were a few originals sprinkled in our set lists.

We did covers of 90’s rock songs. Some examples would be Machine Head by Bush and In The Meantime by Spacehog.

Where’s John Pennington? I think he mentioned being a rocker in days of yore.

Tiz true, @jaytkay Pennington, rocked with some greats. One of which being Roy Orbison.

I used to be, was a good source of “tax-free income.” Had to give it up when my kid was born, but am itching to get back into the scene.
