Does anyone else suffer from Favorite Store Poop Disorder?

Asked by sliceswiththings (11723points) February 24th, 2011

When I was growing up, there was a local bookstore in my hometown which almost every time I entered I suddenly needed to poop.

Now I’ve moved across the country and I occasionally browse through this cool record store. It seems that the same phenomenon has struck again: all of the four or so times I’ve been in there, I’ve had urgent bathroom needs. Yesterday didn’t even make sense, as I had gone just moments before.

Perhaps there’s something subconscious going on where I had to poop during an early visit to these places, so I have an association.

Is anyone else afflicted with this disorder that makes it quite difficult to shop?

Wow! I thought I was the only one besides my mom this happened to everytime I go in certain stores. Wal-Mart & Dollar General are the main ones. You are not alone, I am so glad that noone on here knows me :)

I don’t but my older son had Favorite Park Poop Disorder. When we went to a certain park when he was young to hike, he would inevitably have to poop and there was only a rather grotty latrine there.

No. I have trained my body to never feel the urge unless I am at home, or within 60 seconds of home. I am not a fan of foreign environments when it comes to moving my bowels.

@FutureMemory We think alike My husband used to do this. For him it was more a matter of how much walking (ehem! Constitutional) he did prior to getting to a certain place.

If this happened to me, I’d be at home sitting on my toilet before going to the said location…or I’d hold it ‘til I got back home.

That is why it is a disorder because it doesn’t matter if you have just used the br, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to hold it beleive me I have tried!

I often wonder if it is an actual medically documented disorder like IBS

@SpatzieLover I’m a bit of a nut when it comes to bathroom stuff. For example, if I’m in the restroom and someone knocks on the door, the house better be on fire or someone is choking to death – otherwise don’t bother me until I come out. Even if I’m only shaving – leave me alone!

I am a Bi-Mart pooper. After some serious discussion between my best friend and I, we determined that it wasn’t about Bi-Mart, it was the time of day I always went into Bi-Mart. I always stop by after work and that happens to coincide with my afternoon dooky. Just a thought :-)

This is, quite possibly, the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard.

@Seelix I know, right?

It is weird, but it afflicts millions (probably) of people on this Earth. :)

There’s a bar in my hometown, a low down dirty dive of a place, probably the last place you’d want to take your pants down in, but every time I walk in the joint, I have a bowel emergency. It’s a strange phenomenon.

I get that feeling when I visit my old high school…hate that place.
