What does an average person spend on a one day visit to Walmart?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) February 26th, 2011

All of us have different spending habits and I am no exception. Since WalMart is the No. 1 retailer in America, I was wondering what you buy at WalMart and how much money do you spend on an average day. I realize purchases can be small or large, depending on if you buy your groceries at WalMart. Question: what is your average amount of money, you donate to WalMart, on a one day visit?

Probably around $40. I buy cleaning products, toiletries and cosmetics, mostly. I don’t go very often because there isn’t a store very near me, so when I do go, I usually stock up on bathroom-type things.

Lol….Anywhere from 20.00 to 200.00
I only go to Walmart when I need something (and can’t get it somewhere else) and I will usually buy something else wile I’m there….

In Germany, about 0, because Walmart does (fortunately) not exist here anymore.

I could spend hundreds, if not more. You could get all your groceries, cleaning supplies, music/movies/books, toys, gardening supplies, light automotive, office, kitchen, etc. etc. etc. While there, you could get your photo professionally taken, taxes done, eyes examined and purchase glasses. You could have lunch/dinner, a coffee break, and get the tires on your car changed. Add so much more to that short list there. It’s an amazing store, and you get greeted as you walk in.

I have never made a purchase at Walmart. My average and grand total are both $0.

Raqinqloli, first, I was not aware that WalMart ever had a store in Germany. second, what happened? Too many items made in China?

Too much actual competition.

I will go about once a week and I spend an average of $60. I buy my cat food and cat litter there so that might be as much as $20. If I need a car, craft product or holiday item I will always check Walmart first for selection, and then if they don’t have it or I don’t like what they have I will check elsewhere. I will look at clothes for my pre-school age daughter, and if something is priced well I can’t resist. I will check the children’s clothing section to see if anything is decent. I will check shoes to see if there are any shoes I can buy my daughter. The other night I went to Walmart and bought her one pair of light up princess sneakers for $10 (clearance) and two pairs of Dora sneakers on clearance for $7 each pair. . So that was $24 of my purchase. I may walk through the food section to see if something strikes my fancy, to take to work to have on hand. I buy my makeup from Wwalmart (Loreal).

We have a small IGA in the closest town we live near and I usually shop there. The next closest town with any shopping is 17 miles. This town does have a Walmart and I usually shop there once a week. I can easily spend $80— $100 on this once weekly visit to feed a family of 4 (5 when my son visits from school, which is quite often) and our two dogs and two cats.

The prices for milk, cereal, shampoo, toilet paper, laundry detergent and cheese are much less expensive than they are at the IGA, plus the IGA doesn’t always have what I need.

I usually spend around $65. I get my generic prescriptions there and my supplements and over-the-counter drugs (like aspirin). Also, on toothpaste, toilet paper, bread, cereal, and canned goods, you can’t beat the prices.

I can’t ever get out spending less than $45, so I try to stay away.

We’re an average household I think, two adults, one senior parent, 3 dogs and 1 cat. Wal Mart has a superstore 3 minutes from our house so we shop there regularly for groceries (no closer grocery) and what not. Our usual bill each visit is about $150.00 and we do this twice a month.

What we buy
Food
Paper products
Cleaning products
Toiletries
Prescription meds
Phone cards
Eyeglasses
Fresh flowers
Drinking glasses/cookware
Bedding/Linens
Clay Pigeons for shooting
Ammo for shooting
Dog Beds/potty pads

I don’t know about an average person, but I might as well not go in if I don’t want to spend $50. I don’t go to Walmart, but I do go to Target every now and then.

We buy almost everything we need there, even gas. Also it has the best prices on ammunition. It’s kinduv a bitch on the 15th and 30th though,(army town).

I usually go to Wally World about once every two weeks. I almost always spend around $30 even. No more, no less. I’m usually buying groceries, but I sometimes get socks, camping supplies, .45 ammo, toiletries, and/or lightbulbs while I’m there because it’s convenient and they have the best prices in my area.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard Does your WM sell that pistol Tulammo yet? I got a few boxes but haven’t yet tried it. Probably the same as Wolf, also have yet to try. For some reason I’m uneasy about running steel cased in anything but 7.62×39.

TexasDude's avatar

@woodcutter, yep. I feed it to my 1911 and it’s dirt cheap. Never had a problem with it. The rumours about steel cased ammo are all mostly untrue. It’s good to go.
