What happens to all the junk in the sewers?

what happens to all the toilet paper and all that gross stuff in the sewers? does it go to the dump or just build up?

i think they showed on Discovery’s dirty job, well, yeah, it gets filterd and then goes to the dump with the rest of the junk as far as i know
