Looking for nonsense on the web?

Asked by danieljl (40points) March 2nd, 2011

I’m looking for some good examples of convincing but false information of any kind on the web. Something like theonion.com but not a whole website.

The People’s Cube meanders between the serious and the satirical. Then you’ve got your blogs, and a while back I would have directed you to Geocities, in all of their HTML splendor.

You’re having trouble finding nonsense on the web? If you are I’m sorry, I can’t help you. If you need help finding nonsense on the internet… well, you probably wouldn’t even know it if you saw it.

I like some of the image competitions on B3TA such as:
Making Safe Things Dangerous
Go Go Scientology
Inside the factories. How do they really make X?
It’s a Conspiracy
Film Aftermath
Pointless USB devices
Unlikely Babies

etc, etc,

Can be a bit NSFW sometimes, and….it’s not that convincing either!!!

I like the Post-Modernism Generator.

Sweet fucking genius.

What about this Fox News broadcast (purportedly of the crowd at a Madison, WI rally but clearly using tape spliced in from some other locale with palm trees which are limited in their growth habit and their range does not include Wisconsin. Not to mention that trees in Madison don’t have leaves on them at the moment.) Or for that matter, you could use just about anything on Fox News.

@Kayak8 – I liked the suggestion that the Unions brought the trees with them to confuse people! I hope it was a joke, but I’m not sure.

Some of the things on stumbleupon are complete crap. But you’ll have to weed through quiet a bit.
