Any Art Deco collectors here? What are some of your favorite finds?

I am just starting with Art Deco collecting. I think that this is rather lovely and the price is reasonable. :)

I collect Catalina Pottery and some of my favorites are hand painted head vases.

I have quite a few calendars from the 20’s and 30’s my dad gave me that his parents had collected. They are quite fancy and elaborately designed. Beautiful too.

This is beautiful.

It’s a beautiful period, isn’t it? That’s when theatres were coming into being, and the old ones that have been well cared for are a spectacle in themselves. The heavy scarlet curtains, the soaring/ curving gold accents, the frolicking woodland spirits… sigh. So romantic.

I’m in a Maxfield Parrish phase.

@Jude—isn’t the jewelry of this period gorgeous? sigh again. :D

@Jude I also have an Elgin wrist watch given to me by a maiden lady friend of my grandmother. (Maiden lady is how she referred to herself as she was never married.)
I also have some jewelry, makeup (compacts, lipsticks, etc.) lamps, a clock, a radio and many other bits of brick and brack.

@lucillelucillelucille there used to be this tiny little store in the Royal Exchange Building in Manchester that sold dresses from the 1920/30s and I LOVED browsing in there. I could never afford one of the beautifully beaded works of art but I loved to look at them. Sighs…

I just bought the most beautiful art deco light fitting for my bedroom. It is so pretty and really just pure whimsy on my part. I had to get it sent from the US but I love it. Can’t wait to get the electrician to put it up.

TexasDude's avatar

I want that.

Jude's avatar

Not Art Deco, but, I purchased this (light-up) hanging sign for my kitchen. You hang it. :)

I am bidding on something right now. :)

Beautiful @Jude !
My grandma used to have one very similar to that one on her bed, except it was pink. It may have even been the same kind.
Will that fit on your headboard?
