My romantic mixtape needs some jelly magic, any suggestions?

Asked by sinscriven (6361 points ) March 10th, 2011

So this new girl i’ve been seeing is completely in love with singing, especially male singers and she loves it when I sing for her; The problem is that my music collection doesn’t have as much singable and somewhat modern and/or romantic songs as I’d like so I’d like to get a playlist together of songs that I could sing to her, that are by male vocalists or unisex type romantic songs, are melodic, emotional and strongly expressed sections are a plus. The only limit I think is that it can’t be country music.

I’m kind of at a loss on where to begin because most of my favorite songs are country. Halp!

Have a Little Faith in Me. No romantic mix is complete without it.

Stay is also wonderful.

Ain’t too Proud to Beg, What a Wonderful World and Hungry Eyes are all classics as well.

Edit to add: Almost forgot! Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes and Burning for You are also excellent songs. :)

@nikipedia: Oh man, you made me think of Death Cab for Cutie! There are so many awesome songs from them!

Marching Bands of Manhattan, I’ll Follow you into the Dark, and Transatlanticism are all very romantic and wonderful songs. :)

Why don’t you ask her what she loves or go on a shopping trip together and pick some things out? Then you can share the experience or find music you have both not heard and fall in love with?

Brighter than Sunshine, by Aqualung, is a really cute song with a tune that’s good for singing along to. It may take a couple of listens to let it grow on you, but I personally like it a lot. :)
