What's a good place in the USA to trade foreign currency at the face exchange rate?

Asked by bolwerk (10337points) March 15th, 2011

I have a lot of Canadian money lying around that I’d like to get rid of.

You’ll probably do best at your own bank if they do exchanges.

No matter where you exchange them you will have to pay a fee. Your bank is the most apt to give you the best deal.

Or you could just plan a weekend in Canada and not have to exchange any cash.

Hmm, my bank sucks about that sort of stuff. That’s why I’m asking.

All exchanges I have taken foreign money to will charge a percentage for processing.
Are you trying to avoid paying this?

Maybe see if a competing bank will give you a better deal if you move your account to them.

@Tropical_Willie: or at least greatly minimize it.

With the current trend of of the Canadian Dollar you may want to keep it…for a little wile… see how high it gets

It’s like $50. Enough to be worth it to exchange, but not enough for investment.
