General Question

If it is giving me the correct search result on the right bottom of the screen, why is it saying "no result" on the left top?

Asked by flo (13313points) March 15th, 2011

I went here:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/
I clicked next to magnifying glass, entered Jim Croce in the and I got this:
http://www.apple.com/search/?q=jim+croce
Is there anything I can do to get the page with Apple Store result (which I don’t need) on the bottom right, and itune results on the left top? .....EDITED OUT

For anyone who might want to suggest another site, my question is really about the search result in itunes.

Addition: I only cliked on the “itunes” in black backround. How do I remove Apple Store results from the equation? On Sunday the itunes results were not visible without scrolling. Today it is visible.

You need to download iTunes and install it on your computer. You are on the Apple Store page to get the free iTunes application. Once you install it, you can open the iTunes Store and search for Jim Croce.

@zenvelo thanks. The result is there though, if you click 2nd link. I just don’t understand the contradiction on the same page.
If I open the link in a new window for example, I only see the no results part. I have to maximize the window to see the part where the result is.

The other thing is, how about people who use public computers that don’t allow downloading?

@flo People using public computers aren’t buying tunes to store on that computer. The iTunes Store lets you sample, but you have to buy the song to hear the whole thing.

@zenvelo, they can’t store it in their usb or something? You can’t sample the tune on itune on a public computer?
I am still trying to get this:
__The result is there though, if you click 2nd link. I just don’t understand the contradiction on the same page._

Your first link isn’t iTunes; it’s the Apple page explaining what iTunes is,what’s available on it , and how to get iTunes. It is not the actual content of iTunes. When you search, you aren’t searching iTunes, but are searching the Apple site.

If it is giving me the result:

iTunes Results
Time In a Bottle
Jim Croce
SongBad, Bad Leroy Brown
Jim Croce
SongI’ll Have to Say I Love You In a Song
Jim Croce
SongI Got a Name
Jim Croce
SongBad, Bad Leroy Brown
Jim Croce
Song

It shouldn’t also say “no result.”

@flo It is giving you three search results: There are no “Jim Croce” results in the Apple Store. There are no “Jim Croce” results found at Apple Support. There are results for the search term “Jim Croce” at the iTunes store.

If you want to browse the iTunes store for albums or individual songs, you need to install the iTunes application. You are not performing a complete search of iTunes from the Apple.com web site.

I didn’t ask it to give me three results. Why is it talking about Apple Store, Apple Support? I don’t see why it is giving me their results. Like I posted .” I only cliked on the “itunes” in black backround”

2)Where it says “no results” on the right top of the screen side, it is saying there is no result anywhere according to me, because it doesn’t mention Apple Store, Apple Support.

Based on your answer it should have said you need to download itunes as soon as I clicked itunes.

Different artist’s websites provide samples, and there is no need to download anything.

By the way this time the same Jim croce search gives me a different result:
http://www.apple.com/search/?q=jim%20croce&section=ipoditunes&geo=us

I’m sure it is my fault.

To correct myself above
“2)Where it says “no results” on the right top of the screen side…”
it should be “left top”

…and now the link in my OP:
http://www.apple.com/search/?q=jim+croce
and the one in the second before last posting:
http://www.apple.com/search/?q=jim%20croce&section=ipoditunes&geo=us
have switched with each other.
I don’t know what made me click on them…
This is too strange!

@zenvelo,
By “Different artist’s websites provide samples, and there is no need to download anything.” I don’t mean itunes should also not need users to download in order to sample, rather, that if we need to download to do anything, that it should immediately let us know.
I got this far:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/jim-croce/id19523393?ign-mpt=uo%3D4
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/one-less-set-of-footsteps/id324594793?i=324594844

…And now the two links in question (the ones in the second to last posting) have switched back to the correct results. Amazing.
