Have you ever witnessed a movie or video mistake?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) March 24th, 2011

Years ago, wife and I were watching Days Of Our Lives on tv. Just before a commercial break, two male actors were about to have a fight, inside a house. During all the heated words and actual assaults, in the corner of the room, sitting nicely on the floor was a motorcycle with a helmet on the seat. How could the producers of that show missed that flub? Question: so, what flubs have you witnessed in a movie or on television?

A Roman wearing a wristwatch. Can’t remember the name of the movie.

Like @mattbrowne I watched some movie about Romans in Latin class and I and another boy caught the “Roman” clicking the top of his pen (it was taped to a quill).

Not a serious one, but in FRIENDS, a scene inside the coffee shop showed Rachel with NO necklace, and when they switched back to her, a necklace appeared out of nowhere.

I just finished watching a black and white movie, made in 1938. “Rich Man Poor Girl”.

All of a sudden this guy comes in his front door of his house and takes off a ‘clip-on” tie.

I never knew they had clip-on ties in the 1930s.

Also, this woman was curling her hair with an electric curling iron. My wife could not belive it.

I also saw a lamp complete with shade, base, and bulb, in a movie that was supposed to take place during the Classic period of Greece

In Full Metal Jacket, when Gunney discovers a donut in Pyle’s foot locker, he stuffs it into his mouth with the wrapping still on it. Then in the next scene it is unwrapped yet still in his mouth.

It happens a lot more often than you’d think. My mom is an expert for spotting those things. At least once a month she will point something out. She would make a really good continuity director.

Most of the ones that I have noticed have been the microphone dangling above where the actors are speaking.

@Kardamom my husband is like that…he also notices the boom mic shadow a lot!

In a scene from Gladiator where they’re supposedly in Africa (IIRC), I thought I saw a shot of Lone Pine Peak in the background.

Sure enough, one of the filming locations listed are the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, CA.
