What is a great drink to order at Starbucks on a date?

Asked by Paradox1 (1179points) April 2nd, 2011

I wouldn’t ever order something like a Passion Tea Lemonade – too girly. I want to come off confident and smooth, so I guess I’d be looking for a drink that would make you think that.

P.S. I know what I think, but I want to see what others think or if they think the question is insignificant altogether.

You said you don’t want to come off as “girly” and as “confident and smooth” instead. Therefore, I’m guessing you’re a dude. In that case, I’d say you should order a “large” because only bitches call their coffee “venti” or whatever coffee, black with no cream or sugar or caramel unicorn powder in it.

Also, when the baristas ask for your name, tell them it’s “Kermit.” When they inevitably comment on it, tell them you were named after Theodore Roosevelt’s badass alcoholic son. I did that once, and my date was impressed as hell at my voluminous historical trivia knowledge, as well as my smooth lying skills.

That’s a lie. I didn’t have a date when I told the baristas my name was Kermit. But you believed me for a second there, didn’t you? And that’s what counts.

I get my usual which is a vente sugar vanilla no foam latte with whole milk, but if your looking for something simple the regular coffee on tap is good too. I love my lattes though.

A Venti, sugar-free, non-fat, vanilla soy, double shot, decaf, no foam, extra hot, Peppermint White Chocolate Peppermint Mocha with light whip, upside-down, 1 pump of peppermint, 1 and 3/8 pumps vanilla, heavy whip-cream, 3 ice cubes, ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg sprinkled on top, with green sprinkles, light cinnamon dusted on, stirred, with no lid, double cupped, and two straws.

You can always do the Starbucks Rap

I need a caramel macchiato so make it a grande
A double shot espresso, extra whip on a latte
A Tazo passion or green shaken iced tea
And while you’re at it, heat up a muffin for me
I wanna peppermint white chocolate soy milk mocha
Don’t make it to hot, cuz I don’t wanna choke-a
I want something else, wait a second or three
Yeah a pumpkin spice frap light blended coffee
I wanna triple grande cinnamon latte with soy
And a copy of Shep’s book Beautiful Boy.
Give me something else, I want something to eat
Cuz a seven layer bar is my favorite treat.
I want a cream cheese Danish and a hot cross bun
And a poppy seed bagel, just for fun
Now that I have plenty of food
I got one more order so make it good
A tall caramel frap with caramel on top.
Flat lid two napkins don’t spill a drop
Don’t worry ‘bout payment cuz I got a gift card
Hope this complicated order isn’t too hard
But I really do hope I get my order for free
If not y’all gotta spit a rap back at me.

You never go wrong with a grande caramel frappucino, no whipped cream extra caramel drizzle. Mostly because it’s the best tasting thing ever.

Get a smaller drink but with extra shots. Nothing more frou frou than a latte, a cappucino is better. (Mocha’s are for kids or for skiing.)

I get a triple tall non fat latte.

I was thinking a tall Americano drank black (or decaf if its at night). The tall should make my hands look large..

Dude, you don’t want coffee breath on a date. Go for the tea. Own it.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard I dont think so. But my ex would always comment on how my clothes affect my look, so I just assume all women do this. For example, “the cuffs on your pants make you look shorter,” or “the Stripe across your chest makes it look bigger.” I realize its not clothes.. but in my experience women do notice the little things..

@Paradox1, well… whatever floats your boat, man. That’s some serious psychological warfare stuff right there. But if it works…

If you want to come off as confident and smooth, then shouldn’t you just order whatever the heck you feel like drinking?

Zaku's avatar

What chocolatechip said. Order what you want. If you’re thinking about it that much, you’re not being confident nor smooth.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard Nice one about Kermit. If one doesn’t want to say Venti™, once can say 20 oz.

Order what you like. don’t start a relationship with any false pretenses.

cookieman's avatar

Yeah, I agree with the PlushFowl. You’re over-thinking it. Just order whatever it is you usually order. If you don’t usually go to Starbucks, why the hell would you take a date there?

FluffyChicken's avatar

Starbucks doesn’t seem like the best place for a date anyway, but that’s probably just my personal taste speaking. I like a date to be somewhere fun and unique.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

Are we serious? Order whatever you like to drink.

As a woman, I’d find a man who’s comfortable enough in his own skin to order a drink that is stereotypically “girlie” quite attractive. Plus, I hate it when men say “Oh, she’s drinking something girlie”, like my tastes are somehow inferior to theirs.

I think that if you are worring about what type of drink that you are going to potentially order on a date then perhaps you are overthinking the whole thing. As a woman my concern on a date would be the conversation that I have with my date and how he is treating me ie is he picking up the tab not on the drink that he orders… I really dont think that your date will even remember the drink that you order and if she does because its the most memorable thing that happened well don’t expect another date with her!

I was always the adventerous type who goes out on a limb to try something different. In this case, I would try the least popular thing on the menu at Starbucks—coffee.

cookieman's avatar

On a personal note: I know it’s insanely overpriced, but I really like Starbuck’s bottled water (Ethos I think).

optimisticpessimist's avatar

Okay, I haven’t been on a date in a long time (my husband has a silly rule about it:) but I would not care what coffee or tea a guy ordered. I would care whether he was rude or not and how he treated me during the date.
