Best Motorcycle for a novice lady biker?

Asked by missafantastico (685points) April 3rd, 2011

I was recently inspired by a lady friend who bought a ‘61 Comet and is planning to fix it up as a hobby. This is a friend who has no prior mechanic training (I think I knew more about car maintenance before she began this adventure). When I paid a visit to my friend I hopped right in to help her with her car projects and it was awesome! It was really a lot of fun, so I’m thinking about fixing up an old motorcycle as a new hands on hobby.
Here’s the catch:
– I’ve only ever been a passenger on a motorcyle
– I do intend to ride this bike after it’s fixed
– I don’t know what type of motorcycle is best suited for a novice lady rider

In short, I don’t want to fix up an amazing huge bike that I won’t be able to ride.

Any make or model suggestions?

An old Honda CB450. They’re light, and a great novice bike.
