What does it take to sign up for online surveys?

Asked by Quinnk123 (201points) April 16th, 2011

I want to sign up to be able to take online surveys to make money. Do I need to give them my social security number?
What are some good free survey websites?
How so I get paid?
Do I have to make a Pay Pal account or something?

Don’t give them your social security number.

And I assure you, there are far better ways to make money.

I tried the online survey thing. I didn’t enjoy it at all, it’s very tedious. I answer questions for Cha Cha. It’s not tons of money, but enough to feel like you have a little walking around money.

@knitfroggy is right – it’s normally surveys that take 40+ minutes to complete for 2 or 3 dollars, but you can’t collect the money until you have, say $20 stored up. So you really have to have lots of time to do it.

A while back I signed up for focus groups and surveys online and I do get contacted every so often. I might have the website saved in my other computer, I will try to look later today for you. Online is tedious. You can make a lot more money if you are willing to do a focus group, or similar, in person. Taste tests can be around $20 if it is quick with a simple questionaire. Trying products can get you more like $50 to $75. Full blown focus groups can be $100.
