Do you have a unique tradition?

Asked by erichw1504 (26448points) April 20th, 2011

All jellies are unique, but do they have unique customary or characteristic methods or manners (traditions)?

Let us know by stating something that you do every day, week, month, year, or solely on Thursdays at 9am. It can be anything: something you do online, in a store, at someone else’s house, with a certain friend, or just something mentally.

What’s your unique tradition and why? What are some that your friends or family do?

One that I got from my sister, and now my husband and I both do it is to blow a kiss (to free the soul) when we see a roadkill.

When I ride on an escalator, I must do so flamingo style. One foot lifted up, knee bent.

I always call my Dad on my Mom’s birthday. I know it is going to be sad. We talk about obsure stuff. The weather. Who he’s talked to during the past few days. Then I say, “Well, today is St. Patrick’s Day.” He then talks about my Mom. I love those special times really and miss them when the tradition ends.

The wife & I will only have sex when there’s a “Y” in the day. This must be strictly adhered to, which suits both parties just fine.

For years after Dad died, I’d round up a couple of friends on his birthday and head to a bar. In his honor, I’d order a vodka gimlet and give a silent toast to him.

When friends and family older than 29 have birthdays, we say “twenty-nine forever”. My grandpa used to say this on his birthdays or in reference to his age so we’ve kept it since his death as a little tribute to him to share around.
