Can I read any Word and PDf document in a kindle?

I have tons of books in pdf and word format in my computer, so I am thinking about getting a kindle. can I just put them in a kindle or I have to buy all the books that i want to read?

When you get a Kindle you will get a kindle email address. When you email Word or pdf files to this address they are converted into files that your Kindle can read. There is a small fee for doing this.

You don’t have to send them to the Kindle email address. You can just transfer the files from your computer to the Kindle like you can do with a flash drive.
