What's the best thing about Earth Day?

Asked by cityshark (100points) April 22nd, 2008

There’s a lot of hype about Earth Day. I know the benefits of going Green. I just want to hear what everyone else thinks.

driving my big SUV, turning all the lights on in my home and leaving them on all day, cranking my A/C all the way up, and every other luxury given to me by this great nation the greatest nation the earth has ever seen

if it were a day off or a drinking holiday, I’d say that!

i hope you’re being sarcastic, khelms01.

Being outside to smell the freshly turned soil and the new blooms!

Consuming all the psychedelics that come from this wonderful earth.^_^
Hell yea im going Green ^_^.

cityshark's avatar

Mmmmm going herbal and being outside in the great outdoors. I also like the animal sacrifcing.

hairypalm's avatar

The one day where you can not use your your toilet so you take a dump on your friends yard. Save water!

I feel good about the fact that I ride a bike most of the time to get around. There will definitely be some frolicking with knomes, lazing in some boggy dew, sipping on dandelions, quoting excerpts from The Hobbit, listening to some Syd Barrett, that sort of thing.
I like the Google today.

Campbells soup changed some of their labels from red and white to green and white. That’s their way of going green. I had to laugh when I saw that. It’s almost as pathetic as the products that have changed their wrappers to pink to act like they support breast cancer. It’s really just another advertising ploy.

khelms01's avatar

I wasn’t being sarcastic at all.

peedub's avatar

@khelms- I don’t really see how that relates to Earth Day. Why even leave an answer like that? Does it make you feel good to try and piss people off that are trying to preserve the earth?
I don’t go to your Nascar events and try to convince people how fucking lame it is to watch stupid cars go around in circles.

ishotthesheriff's avatar

power is all in the mind.
you’re a selfish, energy-grubbing piece of american shit.
i hope the government fucks up while putting their RFID chip in you.
greatest nation?
in terms of greed, glutton (of EVERTHING), and sex, sure.
i’m sorry your so blinded by your false hopes and confidence.

scamp's avatar

@khelms01 so you’re saying you would rather be a part of the problem than the solution? Or are you just attention seeking? WTG sherriff! I wonder how long your answer will stay there before it gets flagged tho.

ishotthesheriff's avatar

go ahead and flag it, i made my point. and will continue to do so throughout my life.

khelms01's avatar

Man made global warming is a hoax. We couldn’t kill this earth if we tried. Ok, you all can go back to watching algore’s propagana flick now.

peedub's avatar

Let me guess, you probably don’t think evolution exists either, right? Even if global warming is still a theory, how does that make it cool to waste shit anyway? Is it just because you can?
More importantly, how does what you mentioned earlier relate to Earth Day?

What’s wrong, your sporting events aren’t entertaining enough for you today?
Is your poor little team losing?
Lose some of your precious money from a bet?

khelms01's avatar

Im not wasting anything peenut, I pay for everything I use. Bc I don’t listen to what algore tells me too that makes me a bad person or imoral in some way. U liberal wackos can’t handle anyone with differing opinions. Its funny u kooks never mention that global temperatures have gone DOWN for 10 consecutive years.

scamp's avatar

@ sherriff, I didn’t flag it, I gave you great answer points!
@khelms01 You seem to love pollution. It shows by the way you are spreading it in this thread.

khelms01's avatar

bc I watch sports, that makes my opinion invalid?

peedub's avatar

Your response is invalid because it doesn’t answer the question.

Personally, I don’t care what you believe, or whether you like me or people that share some similar views. All I want to know is why you feel the need to be antagonistic in this particular forum. The question is “What’s the best thing about Earth Day?”

Your response doesn’t even make sense as an answer. Isn’t there a place you can go to find more like-minded people? Go to your local sports bar and chat about the things that mean most in life like huge SUV’s and Nascar.

khelms01's avatar

so in other words since I’m not as environmentally sensitve as you are, I should be allowed to post here?

peedub's avatar

That’s not what I’m saying and hopefully you understand this. It just sounds like you are trying pretty hard to be an asshole. Why?
Maybe you could mention you think Earth Day is over-hyped, whatever, fair enough. There are some ridiculous things like the green Cambell’s soup, etc..

But why try and be a dick?

delirium's avatar

I celebrated earth day by planting trees with friends and doing a large scale painting about earth day on a sidewalk. (I was allowed, don’t worry).

Ps. Khelms01, you’re an ignorant asshole and don’t deserve to be alive on this earth if you aren’t going to respect it.

scamp's avatar

Don’t feed the troll!

wildflower's avatar

I actually wasn’t aware today was earth day (pre-occupied with college), but I did walk to and from college, so I guess I was a little green…..

peedub's avatar

I usually don’t but it’s becoming increasingly harder to tolerate ignorance.

delirium's avatar

sigh okay, scamp, good point.

scamp's avatar

Thanks D. That was actually for all of us tho.

khelms01's avatar

I’m not trying to be a dick, just simply stating what I enjoyed doing on earth day, you were the one whomade personal attacks bc u had a different view on the subject. Your ignorance is sickening.

bulbatron9's avatar

The best thing is that some people become aware that this is our only “Earth”! Even if you don’t believe in god, you can understand that there is something greater than “man”, our “Mother Earth”!

I planted tomatoes in my garden, and planted flowers for my wife today!

peedub's avatar

My ignorance? In case you need a little help understanding, the question is about “the benefits of going Green,” that is a direct quote, maybe you never read it.

I don’t recall any part of it asking what one’s favorite activity was on Earth Day. I wish I had time to play with you all day but quite frankly you take too long to respond.

Oh and sorry if I hurt your feelings.

richardhenry's avatar

As stupid as khelms01’s comments were, that’s not the type of thing that can be removed. Seriously though, that was a dumb thing to say.

oddrax's avatar

that no one cares about it
