Farthest west = Hawaii (Kauai)
Farthest east = New Zealand (Auckland)
Farthest north = Russia (St. Petersburg)
Farthest south = New Zealand (Auckland)

Hopefully this will change as I’d love to go Argentina and Chile. But I’m probably going to focus more on the center of the world rather than the extremes. :P

“But I’m probably going to focus more on the center of the world rather than the extremes.”

I would consider traveling to Earth’s core to be rather extreme, unless you’re actually referring to someplace along the equator, such as the Galapagos Islands. ;-)

“I feel so untraveled…:(”

I set my record for being south during a period of involuntary servitude with the US Navy, so not all travel is grade A wonderful.

How about traveling somewhere with a group? I went to the Himalayas on a group trek hosted by the Sierra Club.

Then there are these thoughts on the benefits of inner travel by the Beatles:

“Without going out of my door
I can know all things on earth
With out looking out of my window
I could know the ways of heaven

The farther one travels
The less one knows
The less one really knows

Without going out of your door
You can know all things of earth
With out looking out of your window
You could know the ways of heaven

The farther one travels
The less one knows
The less one really knows

Arrive without travelling
See all without looking
Do all without doing”

“Capetown is only about 4” farther south than Sydney.”

I just realized that looks like 4 inches, but what I mean is 4 seconds (i.e. 1/15 minute and 1/900º) of latitude.

“Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;
Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains in the moon.

Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.”

A poem from one of my favorite books…anyone recognize it?
