What is the best program for drawing webcomics?

Asked by Begeara (376points) May 5th, 2011

So I was given a bamboo tablet for christmas last year and I really like it. About three weeks ago I started a webcomic on a free webcomic hosting site. Although my comics are turning out alright they still don’t look as good as I’d like them too. Im using Paint shop pro 2008 at the moment. The lines I draw are shaky and I can’t do any sort of shading. I know that some people are able to smooth their lines and stuff but I’m not sure how.

I’m just wondering if anyone could recommend a good program for drawing with a tablet?

I LOVE drawing with my tablet in Photoshop. It can do basically everything, once you learn it. If you don’t want to pay the big bucks, try OpenCanvas or the GIMP (haven’t used the latter, personally, so can’t vouch for it, but OC is great.)

(The shaky lines have more to do with gaining tablet skillz than with the program you use.)

Illustrator is really good at smoothing lines. Here is me using it with a Bamboo Tablet to draw curves.

Thats brilliant! :D I’ll definably try that out! As for photoshop, I have the feel I’ll eventually buy it for editing and stuff. But for now I’m just too poor =P Thanks for the suggestions!!

^ Just get it free. I strongly reccomend, you do not use a torrent! Just use youtube it. I would purchase it just the same.
